Andrea Kohlhaussen was born in Berne, Switzerland and studied Textile Design in Basel. Following an 18-month apprenticeship in Munich at Kübler, Europe’s largest fabric retailer, she furthered her studies at the LDT Institute in Nagold, Germany. After language studies in London and Paris, Andrea moved back to Munich to work as the Deputy Store Manager for the Munich LIGNE ROSET flagship store, where she was responsible for interior design and decoration, until relocating with her family to Malaysia.

Andrea has worked intensively with children for over ten years and has developed art projects with them employing multiple techniques. From working with oils, watercolours, and acrylic paint to clay, metals, fabrics and natural materials – the workshops employed every possible technique to create art. The artist has also tutored youngsters pedagogically at the American School of Warsaw in a classroom setting. Making art with children has provided enormous fulfilment and inspiration for Andrea as the ideal means to enable children to experiment and explore constantly, not only in the use of new materials but also in a personal discover of themselves.

Andrea Kohlhaussen has three sons and with her family has resided in many different countries across the world over the past 20 years (Germany, England, France, Malaysia, Switzerland, Australia and Poland). She currently dedicates her time expanding her creativity in new media.
